ADR that works
A better way to resolve conflicts
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a collection of techniques designed to reduce conflicts and allow people to resolve them. Global ADR Strategies (GADRS), is a company started by ADR Pioneer Ernest G. Tannis to help spread these techniques.
Over the years, Ernie has teamed up with a number of different people in order to bring ADR into the mainstream of the legal system in Canada. Many of the people he has worked with are involved with GADRS.

We must find ways, therefore, to resolve our disputes more efficiently and less expensively. Ernest Tannis… has assembled for us much helpful material pointing in the direction we must follow. We would do well to follow.

Mr. Tannis has a reputation as a champion of good causes. His comprehensive work reviews extensively what has been done in the field of alternative dispute resolution elsewhere and what can be achieved by its adoption.

I remember in the 1980s when Ernie decided to provide options to clients, in addition to court, because he wanted them to be aware of the full spectrum of ADR processes available for problem solving. Some thought he was crazy to do this. However, he was just ahead of his time.

As a fellow pioneer in the field, I continue to admire your steadfast commitment to social justice and peace, and your never-ending effort to provide people in conflict, and society more broadly, with alternative (and better) ways of resolving disputes and seeking consensus.
